Country music fans in Waterloo Region have a rising star on their hands. Waterloo-based singer-songwriter Giselle Sanderson recently released Ready When You Are, her first full-length CD, and it features an all-star list of collaborators.
The album was a labour of love: it took three years of writing and recording and was recorded all over the world – Nashville, Toronto, Berlin, Vancouver, Zurich, New York and Stratford.
Giselle’s reputation from touring with artists such as Keith Urban, George Strait and Brooks and Dunn made it easy to recruit some of the top names in country music. Amanda Wilkinson, Beverley Mahood, Chris Byrne (from The Road Hammers), Danick Dupelle (from Emerson Drive), Jason McCoy, Jake Leiske (from Farmer’s Daughter) and Stacey Lee all played on or contributed to Giselle’s album.
Prior to her solo endeavour, Giselle was a member of “Lace,” a trio produced by David Foster. The group had four singles on national country music charts and was nominated for Best Country Group or Duo at the 2000 Juno awards.
During her time with Lace, Giselle met David Kalmusky, who would eventually produce Ready When You Are.
In 2010, Giselle was invited to sing for Canadian troops in Afghanistan, an experience she found deeply moving.
